مصحف الثريا

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ۝١

Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists),

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ ۝٢

Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood).

ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ ۝۳

Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous,

ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ ۝٤

Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)].

عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ۝٥

Has taught man that which he knew not.

كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ ۝٦

Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.).

أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ ۝۷

Because he considers himself self-sufficient.

إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ ۝۸

Surely! Unto your Lord is the return.

أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ ۝۹

Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents,

عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ ۝١۰

A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays?

أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ ۝١١

Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)?

أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ ۝١٢

Or enjoins piety?

أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ۝١۳

Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away?

أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ ۝١٤

Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)?

كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ ۝١٥

Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock,

نَاصِيَةٍۢ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍۢ ۝١٦

A lying, sinful forelock!

فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ ۝١۷

Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers),

سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ ۝١۸

We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)!

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩ ۝١۹

Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah!
